Manufacturers Title Chances in WorldSBK, WorldSSP and STK1000

Kawasaki the clear favourite

Historically, Magny-Cours has seen Champions in WorldSBK, WorldSSP and even STK1000 be crowned in the past. But it isn’t just riders who can achieve glory on the world stage. The manufacturers who lead riders to success also strive to be the best. While the Fassi French Round could see a WorldSSP and STK1000 Champion crowned, it could also see Kawasaki secure the Manufacturers Championship in WorldSBK and WorldSSP while the Champion Manufacturer in STK1000 will have to wait till Jerez to be crowned.

In WorldSBK Kawasaki (482 points) leads the Manufacturers standings 90 points ahead of Ducati (392 points). In order for Kawasaki to take the title at the iconic French circuit, the following scenarios would have to play out:

If a Kawasaki finishes first in Race 2, Ducati will have to finish as well as fourth place and no higher.

If a Kawasaki finishes in second the only way to secure the title this weekend is if the first Ducati home is sixth. If the first Kawasaki home is third, Ducati’s highest position would have to be P12 to allow the Japanese manufacturer to secure the Championship.

WorldSBK Race 1 saw Tom Sykes finish as first Kawasaki rider home in third place while Ducati won with Chaz Davies. If a repeat is seen in Race 2, Kawasaki will have to wait till the following Rounds to win the title.

In WorldSSP, if Kenan Sofuoglu wins –a highly likely scenario- then Kawasaki will win the Manufacturers Championship at Magny-Cours.
